Sebastian is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he initially trained as a bassoonist. On graduating and deciding that the best thing to do with a degree in bassoon was to pursue a career in singing, he now works as a professional soloist on both the concert and opera stages and as a chorister.
Sebastian is a member of the group Blossom Street with whom he has performed Radio 3 broadcasts, toured the UK and abroad, giving workshops and concerts, and recorded CDs.
As a session singer he has recorded soundtracks for many blockbuster films working with composers such as Danny Elfman, Lorne Balfe and Scott Walker. For a full list of films and recordings, including clips, please click here.
Over the last decade he worked with many opera companies such as Longborough Festival Opera, National Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, Surrey Opera, Kentish Opera, New Sussex Opera and Opera Danube.
Alongside his own performing work, Sebastian is Musical Director of two Sussex-based choirs. In February 2018, Sebastian took over as MD for the chamber choir, New Sussex Singers, who are now known in the local area for their imaginative and accessible programs delivered to an incredibly high-standard. For more information on the choir please click here.
In May 2019, Seb was made MD of Heathfield Choral Society and thoroughly enjoys the challenges and benefits of working on a much bigger scale with full orchestral accompaniment. With the choir, Sebastian recently coached the actress Saskia Reeves in choral conducting for screen in the upcoming BBC drama Roadkill. The choir appear on the show as extras on screen and as the choir you hear performing.
Sebastian has been guest director with Musicians of All Saints, Lewes, The Estherhazy Choir in London and The South East Sinfonia.
He is a teacher of both singing and bassoon at various prep and senior schools across the South-East, a facilitator for the company Moving Performance, facilitating transformational leadership programmes within businesses, and a photographer.
In his 'spare' time he enjoys various exercise (including some incredibly bad tennis playing), fine dining, DIY projects and being a Dad to Hugh and husband to Hannah.
