Sebastian completed his training at Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying Bassoon with Daniel Jemison (Principal, LSO) and Helen Simons (RPO) and Contrabassoon with Gordon Laing (Principal, Philharmonia) and Martin Field (Principal, ROH).
Sebastian started his musical life as a Flute player and having played that for 10 years, took up the Bassoon aged 15. He is lucky to have toured with orchestras to France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, and Switzerland amongst other places. With these orchestras he has performed in many of the major concert halls, cathedrals and churches in the UK and across Europe including the Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, La Magdalene (Paris) to name a few. As an undergraduate at GSMD he played with the Young Musician's Symphony Orchestra, Orion Symphony Orchestra and as principal and contra bassoonist with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, amongst others, under conductors including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, James Gaffigan and Peter Stark. Previous engagements have included a performance of Mahler’s gargantuan Symphony No 2 ‘The Resurrection’ with GSMD at the Barbican and a performance of John Adams' eccentric 'Chamber Symphony' with the Ubu Ensemble. Sebastian played first Bassoon on a recording for Naxos with the Tait Chamber Orchestra under Sir Richard Bonyge. He also recorded for Katie Melua's Coronation song 'I will be there'. He has performed extensively with his wind quintet, Treblos, in the UK, Ireland, Austria, USA, China and Italy. For over seven years he was in the Treblos Wind Quintet, who he helped establish as an exciting, young chamber ensemble on the London music scene. In April 2011 Treblos performed, to great reviews, Carl Nielsen's 'Wind Quintet' in the Barbican Hall, preceding a London Symphony Orchestra Concert. Sebastian is active as an educator working with the London Symphony Orchestra Discovery, Moving Performance, Treblos and other companies to deliver workshops to both adults and children in the UK and in The Republic of Ireland. "WOAHZERS!!!! That was an AMAZING performance! Brilliant - massive congrats..." Anna Meredith on listening to my performance of her piece 'axeman'. "The Treblos Quintet...gave a well-considered performance tonight...This was a very fine performance indeed..." - on the Nielsen Wind Quintet performance.
